Neuro-Muscular (Therapeutic) Massage is a tool shed of  techniques that are used to alleviate muscle related pain/discomfort and improve the overall function of the muscles and nervous system. NMT is a very effective therapy for speeding up the recovery of all types of injuries, alleviating pain and dysfunction, and for maximizing peak athletic performance. However, it can also be performed as preventative self-care for a healthy lifestyle, graceful aging, and general well-being.

Benefits of Therapeutic Massage Include:

• The release of tension and alleviation of discomfort in muscles and joints
• Reduction in spasms, cramps, stiffness, swelling, inflammation, & soreness
• Increased circulation, helping flush out metabolic waste meanwhile helping deliver nutrients & oxygen back into over-taxed muscles
• Faster, more efficient recovery from all types injuries (including surgery)
• Increased range of motion & flexibility
• Elevates mood (natural “feel-good” neurotransmitters & hormones, such as serotonin & dopamine are produced and released)
• Induces sound restorative sleep so the body can better repair itself
• Helps improve posture & body mechanics
• Stress reduction by increased para-sympathetic nervous system activity (counter-balancing the bodies flight-or-fight response caused by stressful stimuli)
• Promotes peak athletic performance, improving strength, stamina, & endurance
• Supports immune function
• Stimulates digestion, encourages detoxification, & allows for deeper breathing
• Facilitates body awareness & re-establishes mind-body connection
• Reduces restrictions imposed by scar tissue
• Enhances mental clarity, alertness and productivity

Some of the ailments concerning muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and joints that can benefit greatly from NMT are:
whiplash, headaches, low back pain, muscle spasms, numbness/tingling, nerve syndromes, , the after-effects of extensive dental work and other conditions associated with TMJ dysfunction (clenching, grinding, lockjaw, etc.), repetitive motion injuries, scoliosis, plantar fasciitis, managing symptoms of neurological dysfunction (MS, Parkinson’s, nervous ticks, etc.).

Neuro-Muscular (a.k.a. Therapeutic or Medical) Massage Consists of Techniques Such As:

Myo-Fascial Release and Myo-Fascial Sculpting to create more slack in the connective tissues, restore fluidity and improved function in all the inter-related systems (such as the nervous, circulatory, lymphatic)

Cross-Fiber Friction for breaking up hardened or adhered muscles fibers/tendons and scar tissue

Manual Trigger Point Therapy to melt away grumpy knots and referral pains

Pin and Stretch (Acupressure) and other bodywork exercises that increase range of motion

Static Pressure and Deep Circular Compression (with or without the use of tools called T-bars)

Positional Holds for unwinding the nervous system and opening the pathways for all systems to function properly

This focused therapy releases the musculature in your upper shoulders, neck, head, jaw, and face – including the muscles inside your mouth. Integrating Neuro-Muscular Massage with Cranio-Sacral Therapy to specifically address problems associated this region of the body. Incredibly beneficial for those experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Mild to severe tension and stress
  • Frequent headaches or migraines
  • Problems clenching and/or grinding the teeth
  • Difficulties opening or closing your mouth
  • Whiplash, extensive dental work, and other traumas (especially head)
  • Popping or clicking of tempo-mandibular joint
  • Structural misalignments that are contributing to vertigo or ringing in the ear(s)
  • Numbness or tingling in the neck, head, face or ears
  • Forward head posture or asymmetry in the tone of the muscles in your head/face
  • Dislocation of the tempo-mandibular joint(s) and discs

Chronic Neck and TMJ issues almost always require more than one treatment in order to produce  long-lasting change because there is a nervous system component involved in this condition; that must be re-habituated, therefore we strongly suggest that TMJ clients start their treatment with a 3 series.

If you are unsure whether this type of treatment is right for you, we offer a 30 minute free consultation to discuss your concerns, assess your condition, and offer you a sample of what I do within these treatments. Please, connect with us to set up your introduction session, if this sounds like something you want to explore.

This style of treatment also works well in conjunction with acupuncture, chiropractic care, comprehensive dental care and other therapies that help manage stress, such as meditation, yoga, and counseling.

Single Session (75 Min ea.)…$105.00
Initial 3 Series (75 Min ea.)…$300.00

Cranio-Sacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle touch therapy that has profound effects on the entire body. CST techniques are used to both detect the tension patterns that may be causing pain and/or dysfunction and to then to help re-establish balance within the Cranio-Sacral system (bones, soft tissues, cerebral spinal fluid, endocrine, lymph, and circulatory systems). Though the primary focus is on the head and sacrum, this therapy effects every single system of the body, especially the nervous system. Gentle mechanical adjustments and release of the connective tissues — restoring balance and freedom of movement.

CST can help to:

    • Decrease the frequency and intensity of persistent pains (especially headaches)
    • Release habitual/postural tightness in the muscles and joints
    • Facilitate healing from the impact of physical and emotional trauma
    • Alleviate symptoms of TMJ Dysfunction (pain or discomfort, clenching, grinding, inability to open/close jaw, misalignment, and popping)
    • Lower levels of vertigo or tinnitus (depending on its origin)
    • Improve one’s ability to handle stress and alleviate symptoms associated with it (insomnia, body aches, irritability, immune function decline, etc.)
    • Enhance mental awareness and ability to focus attention (including symptoms of ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, confusion, mental fog, etc.)
    • Enhance quality of life by re-synchronizing natural bodily rhythms, enhancing awareness, encouraging the production of “feel-good” neuro-chemistry, leading to feelings of peace and harmony

CST is non-invasive and is DEEPLY relaxing. Though the changes CST brings about are gradual, its effects tend to be long-term because of the re-patterning that occurs in the nervous system. With the demands of living in a fast paced culture today, our bodies absorb more shocks and accumulate more stress than we can possibly process in one night’s rest; leaving us feeling increasingly depleted, overwhelmed, exhausted, and in poor overall shape. Cranio-Sacral Therapy has profound effects and is limitless in its ability to help us lead more peaceful and healthful lives. It is a phenomenal modality to add to any self-care regimen.

*CST can also be integrated into any Massage Treatment

All treatments include the use of aromatherapy unless specified otherwise. We are very selective in the products we include, using therapeutic-grade essential oils and all natural massage products, organic (and beyond). The blends we choose are used for emotional upliftment, to encourage deep breathing, take the edge off the pain, and to assist in the healing process – by giving the body plant medicines to utilize.
